What is PDF?

Logo of Adobe AcrobatPDF stands for Portable Document Format is a file format created by Adobe Systems in 1993 for exchanging documents. The PDF format is used for two-dimensional representation of documents in an independent manner the application software, hardware and operating system.

Each PDF file summarizes a complete description of a fixed layout 2-D document (and, with Acrobat 3-D, which is incorporated 3-D documents) that includes text, fonts, images, and 2-D vector graphics that make up the documents.

PDF is an open standard, which was officially launched on July 1, 2008 by the ISO (International Organization for Standardization) as ISO 32000. An open standard is a standard that is accessible to the public and various rights of use associated with it.
Now, PDF has became the most popular format for document exchange.
